PLAYROOM LOWER GROUND FLOOR, THE HAGUE CITY VILLA

On the lower ground floor of a beautiful city villa. Historically it houses the kitchen and living spaces of the housing staff. The wish was threefold: a playroom that can easily be transformed into a study room for the three daughters, bedroom for visiting parents or an au-pair and space for the current use of the basement as storage and washroom.

In the center of the basement in existing rooms we placed the functions that don’t need any daylight like the bathroom, washroom and storage. This volume is finished with one uniform minimalistic surface. This results in one recognizable box within the basement. This box creates different spaces around all with its own qualities.
